Former Head of Communication at G DATA CyberDefense, Hauke Gierow, Becomes New Director of Cyber Security Communications at PIABO

For this purpose, PIABO brings Hauke Gierow, former Head of Communication at G DATA CyberDefense and specialist editor for cyber security at, into the team as a new director.

Nowadays, cyber security is not ‘nice to have’ – instead, it has become a central component of risk management. In addition to a cyber security strategy, every company today also needs a plan for communications to be able to secure the trust of customers and business partners in the long run. For this reason, PIABO has now strengthened its staff and content to be able to advise companies more competently in this area. 

Hauke Gierow has more than ten years of experience in cyber security. For the German section of ‘Reporter ohne Grenzen’, he built up the area of digital security for journalists. At the Mercator Institute for Chinese Studies, he established the topic ‘cyber security in China’. For several years he has worked as a specialist editor for IT security, data protection, and network policy at Most recently, Hauke Gierow was responsible for corporate communications at the German cyber security provider G DATA CyberDefense. 

The certified crisis communications manager is Chairman of the Institute for Technology and Journalism, Chair of Cyber Security Awareness and Communication, Expert Group Cyber and Digital at the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, as well as a member of the Advisory Board at the international EU research project DeStalk, which develops solutions against gender-based digital violence. 

With the establishment of the new cyber security Practice, PIABO acknowledges the growing dynamics in this field. "Cyber security is a topic of high social and political relevance.
