5 Tips for Extra Budget in Summer Vacation: Tax Returns Instead of Procrastination
Neunkirchen (Siegerland), July 19, 2023. It's a common scenario: an important task is at hand, but instead of tackling it right away, we keep putting it off. This phenomenon, known as procrastination, affects millions of people worldwide and can lead to stress, dissatisfaction, and ultimately frustration. However, there's good news: procrastination isn't an insurmountable situation. With the right strategies and tools, it can be effectively overcome. Procrastination is particularly common with the annual income tax return. For this reason, WISO Steuer, the multiple test winner for digital tax returns in Germany, has compiled five helpful tips for completing your tax return stress-free and successfully.
Recognize and Accept
If you're experiencing procrastination, you're not alone. Many people postpone tasks they find unpleasant. Recognizing and accepting this behavior is the first step towards change. Instead of blaming yourself for procrastinating, it's helpful to understand that this is a widespread human behavior. It's not about laziness but often about fear or uncertainty.
Break Tasks into Smaller Parts
The tax return seems like a mountain of work. However, as with any project, it helps to break the task into manageable parts. Instead of focusing on the entire tax return, you can start with a single issue or first gather all the necessary documents. With WISO Steuer, you can collect receipts in the digital “Tax Box” throughout the year. This way, the work is done step by step and seems less overwhelming.
Smart Use of Digital Data
Modern technologies can significantly simplify the tax return process. WISO Steuer, for example, offers the pre-filled tax return, where data from tax offices and insurance companies are automatically entered into the declaration. This minimizes effort, saves time, and reduces the error rate.
Planning and Setting Priorities
Every tax return is unique, and certain elements can have significant impacts on the taxes to be paid or a possible refund. Therefore, it's advisable to tackle the most significant points first. Services from craftsmen, such as a chimney sweep, can have immediate effects on a refund and thus contribute to motivation. In addition, advertising costs, such as the home office flat rate, can be claimed. Special expenses, such as donations or extraordinary burdens, can also be set. These include costs for health services like glasses or dentures, which may increase the refund. Planning and prioritizing reduce the workload and benefit from a higher tax refund.
Take Reward Breaks
It's important to reward yourself for completed tasks. This increases motivation and drive. After completing a topic or entering a certain number of documents, you could, for example, take a short break, go for a walk, or have a coffee break. The advantage with WISO Steuer: You can interrupt filling out at any time and continue later at the same or a different point.
"We know that the topic of taxes is associated with uncertainty and stress for many people," says Peter Schmitz, Managing Director of WISO Steuer. "But with the right approach, everyone can manage to complete the annual tax return effectively and in a timely manner. Our goal is to make everything as simple and straightforward as possible and to provide the best possible support with WISO Steuer."

Kyon Energy and Obton Sign Framework Agreement for Battery Storage: Expansion of 600 MW Storage Capacity by 2026
Munich and Aarhus (Denmark), June 12, 2023 - Kyon Energy, a project and business developer specializing in battery energy storage systems, and Obton, a leading operator in the development and acquisition of solar PV plants, have entered into a framework agreement. Through this partnership, the two companies commit to adding 600 MW of storage capacity over the next three years. By 2026, this will result in investments in the high hundreds of millions into the German energy infrastructure. This is the largest framework agreement for battery storage projects between project developers and investors in continental Europe and a significant contribution to the success of the energy transition.
Kyon Energy will handle the entire project planning of the battery storage projects, including site development, grid connection planning, construction law development, and layout design. The development of the business model and the turnkey commissioning of the battery storage will be managed jointly by the parties. Obton additionally brings financing for the projects and the operation of the completed battery storages to the partnership.
The collaboration has already begun. The first project within the framework agreement has reached ready-to-build status. In Tangermünde (Saxony-Anhalt), a battery storage with a capacity of 15.8 MW and 32.0 MWh is being constructed. Furthermore, Kyon Energy and Obton have already commissioned two joint projects in 2022: the battery storages at the locations Bad Düben and Elsteraue, totaling 27.6 MW and 32.4 MWh respectively.
Large-scale battery storage plays a significant role in the energy transition and in providing flexibility for the electricity grid. They balance the high volatility in electricity generation from renewable energies, store excess electricity, and feed it back into the grid as needed and profitably at a later time. Fraunhofer ISE estimates the need for such storage in Germany by 2030 at 104 GWh - but so far, only 1.2 GWh are covered.
"The framework agreement with Obton is a milestone for the expansion of energy infrastructure in Germany," says Florian Antwerpen, CEO of Kyon Energy. "The addition of 600 MW of storage capacity will significantly increase the flexibility of the grids. We are proud to make this contribution to the success of the energy transition."
"At Obton, we are very proud to be at the forefront, together with Kyon Energy, of ensuring the essential flexibility of the German energy infrastructure, and see this as a natural extension of our business in the solar PV sector," says Torsten Lauritsen, Head of Battery Storage at Obton. "With this pioneering framework agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to invest in the promotion of the green energy transition."
About Kyon Energy Kyon Energy is a German project and business development company focused on large battery storage systems. With 121 MW of battery storage systems successfully developed and sold with partners in 2022 and a current project pipeline of over 3 GW, Kyon Energy is one of the market leaders in Germany. The company places a special focus on the development and optimization of multi-use strategies, combined with deep expertise in project development and management, and the regulation of large-scale battery storage. Through its battery storage systems, Kyon Energy is driving the energy transition and aims for a world powered by renewable, sustainable, and independent energy.
About Obton Obton is a leading operator in the development and acquisition of solar PV plants - mainly in Europe, but also in Asia, Australia, and Canada. The company has been active in the solar energy sector since 2009 and actively operates more than 1,200 PV plants in twelve countries. Obton offers opportunities to invest in large solar and battery storage funds and currently manages around 3.5 billion EUR on behalf of more than 4,200 Danish investors.

Today marks the launch of the nationwide "Helping Walls" campaign, which aims to simplify and accelerate the provision of housing to refugees from Ukraine. The campaign is a collaborative effort with the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI), the non-profit organization ProjectTogether, and the Housing-as-a-Service company Wunderflats. The goal of the campaign is to provide refugees from Ukraine with private living space quickly, easily, and securely. At the heart of this initiative is a digital platform available immediately, facilitating this provision. Landlords can now offer their available private living spaces to refugees from Ukraine.

Here, they can independently search for and find housing according to their individual needs. At the same time, landlords have the opportunity to offer private living spaces securely and efficiently. Those who wish to offer accommodation – whether a furnished room, an apartment, or even a house – can do so immediately and free of charge at http://helfendewaende.de. Here, both those seeking protection and landlords can also find further important information about the platform.
"We all can and must do something for the people who are fleeing to Germany from their homeland because of the war in Ukraine. This help must be quick and efficient. Therefore, I am all the more pleased that we at Wunderflats have found strong partners in the BMI and ProjectTogether and can provide this platform," emphasizes Jan Hase, CEO of Wunderflats.
