Helping Walls: Major Nationwide Campaign Simplifies and Speeds Up Provision of Housing to Refugees from Ukraine

  • A digital housing platform offers refugees from Ukraine the opportunity to quickly and easily find safe, private accommodations in Germany.
  • Everyone who has available accommodations and private living space is called upon nationwide to make these available to refugees from Ukraine on the platform.
  • The campaign is implemented in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI), the non-profit organization ProjectTogether, and the Housing-as-a-Service company Wunderflats.

Today marks the launch of the nationwide "Helping Walls" campaign, which aims to simplify and accelerate the provision of housing to refugees from Ukraine. The campaign is a collaborative effort with the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI), the non-profit organization ProjectTogether, and the Housing-as-a-Service company Wunderflats. The goal of the campaign is to provide refugees from Ukraine with private living space quickly, easily, and securely. At the heart of this initiative is a digital platform available immediately, facilitating this provision. Landlords can now offer their available private living spaces to refugees from Ukraine.

"Helping Walls" serves as a central point of contact for refugees from Ukraine looking for private accommodation in Germany. Here, they can independently search for and find housing according to their individual needs. At the same time, landlords have the opportunity to offer private living spaces securely and efficiently. Those who wish to offer accommodation – whether a furnished room, an apartment, or even a house – can do so immediately and free of charge at http://helfendewaende.de. Here, both those seeking protection and landlords can also find further important information about the platform.

"We all can and must do something for the people who are fleeing to Germany from their homeland because of the war in Ukraine. This help must be quick and efficient. Therefore, I am all the more pleased that we at Wunderflats have found strong partners in the BMI and ProjectTogether and can provide this platform," emphasizes Jan Hase, CEO of Wunderflats. "With our campaign, we now call on everyone to use this platform to make available accommodations to refugees from Ukraine."
