Cologne, February 6, 2024. The Cologne-based energy company sunvigo is launching its new Sunfarming concept, making it the first German energy supplier to combine rooftop solar panels with a virtual power plant and dynamic electricity rates. With a projected electricity price increase of over 30% in 2024, attributed to rising grid fees and a higher CO₂ price, sunvigo's innovative concept helps homeowners significantly reduce their electricity costs while contributing to climate protection.

Sunfarming provides sunvigo customers with complete green electricity supply, not just from their own solar panels but also from the sunvigo community, a network of all sunvigo customers. Their surplus solar electricity is fed into a virtual power plant. There, all PV systems and storage units operated by sunvigo on single-family homes are digitally interconnected. This setup allows the surplus solar electricity to be pooled, enabling other sunvigo customers to benefit from the excess in the sunvigo community nationwide during less sunny times – at a fixed price or dependent on the time of day. Sunfarming relies on artificial intelligence and algorithms to find the best combination of rooftop solar energy and community electricity for its customers, making Sunfarming up to 50% cheaper than similar offers. Since sunvigo operates the systems themselves, the company designs the systems for maximum efficiency while ensuring maximum convenience and simplicity for its customers.

Solar Panel with Solar Electricity Contract A crucial part of the Sunfarming concept is combining a solar panel with a solar electricity contract. This is unique in the market and brings many advantages. sunvigo takes on the role of the solar panel operator, thus handling all operations, maintenance, servicing, and insurance of the solar panel. This offers the highest security for customers over 20 years. sunvigo customers pay 0 € for the acquisition, installation, and operation of the solar panel and the connection to the sunvigo community. This concept enables sunvigo to offer an attractive solar electricity price, only about half as much as the current electricity price, with a 20-year price guarantee at 15.95 cents per kWh. This way, sunvigo customers can protect themselves against rising electricity costs and optimize their electricity consumption long-term.
