Inside PIABO: Julia Tenner about PIABO's tech focus and team culture

Today you will get to know Julia. She is now in her seventh year at PIABO and works here as Senior Account Director in the B2B team. The customer base she supports at PIABO is very diverse and ranges from the open source software giant GitHub over the software company VMware to the Silicon Valley pioneer Silicon Valley Bank and the second hand champion momox.
PIABO stands out due to its tech focus
I moved to Berlin for my studies in 2005. After completing my diploma in psychology, I first started an internship at another PR agency. One of my tasks there was to organize a themed trip for journalists initiated by the German Foreign Office on the topic of "Digital Germany". During my research for this trip I came across PIABO and found the tech focus immediately exciting. So I sent off my application and only hours later I had an invitation for an interview in my mailbox.
Since then I've been working in our B2B team on a wide variety of clients. From software companies (GitHub and VMware) to e-commerce merchants (momox), the financial sector (Silicon Valley Bank), space-as-a-service giants (WeWork) or the MarTech sector (SevenVentures and ReachHero), you'll find everything here. It is precisely this wide variety and range of topics, companies and industries that drives and motivates me. No day is like the other, there are always new topics and situations that arise and that need to be managed and approached in a new way.
In comparison to the well-known fast-paced everyday life of an agency, one unique fact about PIABO is that we strive for long lasting collaborations: I have been accompanying and supporting most of my clients for many years. It is precisely these long-standing cooperations and the joint growth and further development over the years, together with our clients, contact persons and media contacts, that I particularly appreciate about my work at PIABO.
Another special feature of PIABO: our team! When I first came into the office almost 7 years ago, I was the eighth person in the office. Since then, we have grown enormously year after year, winning new clients worldwide and thus always attracting new talent. It's great that we have now grown to over 50 employees - and it was definitely a very exciting experience for me too.
Together with the number of employees, I have also seen live how the digital scene in Germany has become increasingly important. Seven years ago we mostly developed and implemented PR strategies for German start-ups. Nowadays, our topic - digitalization - is a common theme in all companies and all industries. From start-ups to grown-ups, from medium-sized companies to DAX-listed corporations - all companies are in the middle of the digital transformation. The opportunity to advise them strategically and communicatively and to accompany them on their way with my own expertise is incredibly exciting and gives me new interesting insights, exciting challenges and lots of variety every week.
