DJI’s first all-in-one vacuum robot ROMO

Sensor technology from camera drone development moves into the home and ensures precise obstacle detection and powerful cleaning

October 28, 2025 DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology, introduces ROMO, a new series of advanced robotic vacuum cleaners. With millimeter-accurate obstacle detection technology, ROMO combines precise sensing, intelligent algorithms and high suction power for effortless and comprehensive cleaning on hard floors and carpets. The intelligent self-cleaning system takes care of all maintenance. The premium model ROMO P also has transparent viewing windows, both on the base station and on the appliance, providing an insight into the technical components and design.

Millimeter-precise obstacle detection that even avoids playing cards

The ROMO features an obstacle detection system based on powerful dual fisheye sensors and a wide-angle solid-state LiDAR – technologies that DJI has developed further from the drone sector. In combination with machine learning, ROMO can detect and avoid household obstacles such as 2 mm thick charging cables or even playing cards. The combination of data from multiple sensors creates a comprehensive understanding of the environment, enabling navigation even under furniture and in low light*. Cleaning routes are intelligently planned around each obstacle, while ROMO’s wide field of vision reduces blind spots.

Intelligent route planning for complete coverage

Refined by DJI’s extensive drone mapping and navigation, ROMO’s route planning algorithms create smart cleaning paths for efficient coverage throughout the home. The device automatically adapts its cleaning strategy to various obstacles. It moves close to cables, table legs and corners to clean thoroughly without missing spots, avoiding objects such as socks or liquids to avoid getting stuck or making a mess.

Powerful drive for thorough cleaning

With a high-performance motor and an optimized airflow design, the ROMO offers a strong suction power of up to 25,000 pascals and an air flow rate of up to 20 liters per second. In addition, the visual sensors can detect dirt such as cat litter, in which case the ROMO automatically reduces its speed and the rotation of the side brush to prevent dirt from being dispersed.

Effortless pick-up of long hair

Driven by two high-performance motors, the ROMO’s roller brushes provide powerful performance to sweep dirt into the center for efficient suction. This enables continuous cleaning even with hair, dust and coarse particles.

Real-time extendable/foldable cleaning arms

Thanks to real-time mapping and adaptive edge detection, the dual-flexible ROMO arms automatically fold in and out to adapt to the conditions of any room. They reach deep into corners and along edges and remove dust from hard-to-reach areas such as under cabinets and large appliances, around table and chair legs and along irregularly shaped walls and furniture.

Water on board

When cleaning large rooms, the large 164 ml water tank on board the ROMO keeps the mop pads constantly moist. This prevents areas from being insufficiently cleaned later in the mopping process due to dried-out pads. The ROMO also automatically adjusts the water flow: For stubborn dirt, it increases the output volume so that each area is cleaned more thoroughly.

With a sweeping width greater than the mop track, the ROMO prevents the spread of dirt by always sweeping first and then mopping.

Remove stubborn kitchen dirt or give your home a subtle fresh scent

In addition to the compartment for the standard cleaning solution, the ROMO P has an additional compartment for special concentrates and can dispense both onto the mop pads at the same time. This allows the appliance to be adapted as required, for example with a cleaning solution to combat grease in the kitchen or with a floor fragrance for a house-wide freshness. In this way, it meets the different requirements of every room. A noise suppression chamber on the ROMO effectively reduces airflow noise, ensuring thorough yet quiet cleaning without disturbing others.

No more odors or residues thanks to the self-cleaning base station

The base station’s washboard has a clever design that prevents dirt build-up and makes cleaning easier. Equipped with four high-pressure water nozzles and a 16 mm waste outlet, the mop pads are thoroughly cleaned and dirt particles are removed by the large suction connection, ensuring up to 200 days of maintenance-free operation.

To clean the mop pads, the base station works with a downward force of 12 Newtons. The base station also has a three-stage noise suppression system with long silencer channels and soundproofed chambers. The system reduces up to 80 percent of noise during vacuuming so that cleaning does not disturb people or pets.

Intelligence in every corner of your home

The intuitive DJI Home app provides centralized control of the ROMO series with an elegant and minimalist user interface. It offers several preset smart cleaning modes and also supports customizable cleaning schedules with a quick start at the tap of a finger. In addition, notifications inform you in good time when the fresh water tank is empty or the dirty water tank is full so that cleaning can be planned in advance. Customizable cleaning modes include:

  • Smart carpet cleaning: Precisely recognizes the size and position of carpets and updates them on the map.
  • Intelligent threshold detection: Cleans directly at the edges of the thresholds and avoids frequent crossing.
  • Individual kitchen and bathroom cleaning: The ROMO offers a customizable cleaning mode that applies the cleaning solution directly to the mop pads to remove stubborn kitchen grease. It also returns to the base station after cleaning areas such as the kitchen and bathroom to specifically wash the mop pads to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Carefree cleaning of pet areas: In areas with pets, ROMO reduces its travel and side brush speed to avoid spreading dirt, while increasing suction power to thoroughly remove pet hair.

The robot’s sensors can also be used to remotely check on the home, talk to the family or interact with pets. To protect privacy, access to the camera requires two-factor authentication the first time it is used. Video data is encrypted during transmission and the video function can be completely deactivated when not in use.

When charging the device, ROMO supports 55 W fast charging and achieves a full charge in just 2.5 hours.
